Wait for the top 2 inches of soil to become dry and then water with filtered water, or water that has been left our for 2 days. They like their soil generally moist but not soggy.

Depending on the size of the plant & pot and the conditions in it's environment, you will have to water it multiple times per week or less than once per week.

How much light DO I need?
Picture
Bright, indirect light (avoid direct sunlight), preferably about 5-10 feet from a window.
Am I pet friendly?
Picture
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, all types of Calatheas are non-toxic to both pets and humans. The calathea plant is safe for all pets, including cats, dogs, rabbits, and birds. However, some pets may chew on calathea leaves, rendering them unattractive.
Am I difficult to take care of?
Picture
Calathea's are an intermediate plant, intolerant to drying out, too much / too little light, and pests. Like many plants, they are also sensitive to our city's tap water, so leaving the water out for a couple of days before watering is important (or using filtered water).
