Water when the surface of the soil starts to dry. Maintain generally moist soil.
How much light DO I need?
Bright, indirect light, though will tolerate some shade. Avoid direct sunlight.
Am I pet friendly?
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, all types of Calatheas are non-toxic to both pets and humans. The calathea plant is safe for all pets, including cats, dogs, rabbits, and birds. However, some pets may chew on calathea leaves, rendering them unattractive.
Am I difficult to take care of?
Calathea's are an intermediate plant, intolerant to drying out, too much / too little light, and pests. Like many plants, they are also sensitive to our city's tap water, so leaving the water out for a couple of days before watering is important (or using filtered water).
